I followed the example of Ellen Burne from Travelling The World Solo and decided to go through the pictures I took in 2016 and pick the ones I liked the most. This year I did not only traveled quite a bit, but I also trie to improve my photography skills. So it wasn’t that easy to pick a small number of pictures, but I was able to narrow it down to 21 pictures! This is not a ranking, just a chronological order!!
- Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Venice, Italy
Love the colors of this picture, the red of the bricks against the blue of the sky!!
2. Murano, Venice, Italy
There’s something dreamy and romantic in this white lighthouse on the island of Murano, in the Venetian archipelago.
3. Burano, Venice, Italy
And of course the mesmerizing colors of Burano had to fit in!! Don’t forget to visit this little gem if you’re visiting Venice!
4. Traveling myself in Dumfries, Scotland, UK
This picture was taken by ma bonnie blue Sunny and I loved it!! I mean, I don’t usually like myself in pictures, so it means I really have to like it to publish it anywhere! Having friends who can actually use a camera is of course a plus!
5. Kilt Rock, Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK
On my solo 10-day trip through Scotland I saw amazing landscapes, and this is just one of them! It makes me think of some exotic territory, this is what I see when I think about Australian coast. I think the fact that instead it is in Scotland makes it even more beautiful, because it is so unexpected that its beauty simply strikes you.
6. Bay of Uig, Uig, Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK
Scotland is beautiful even with a rainy day, which is like 300 days per year. Uig is so far the most northern place I’ve been in the world.
7. Fairy Glen, Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK
Near Uig there is a little valley which is one of the main attractions of the Isle of Skye, mainly because of its green hills shaped by the wind. It’s so beautiful that only the fairies could have created it, and maybe live there. But there’s plenty of life anyway: on a early morning walk I met about 20 rabbits!
8. Peschici, Puglia, Italy
I think this little village right above the Adriatic Sea is one of the most beautiful places in my country.
9. Peschici, Puglia, Italy
I mean, how can you not think so too?!
10. Peschici, Puglia, Italy
And those sunsets!!!
11. Lancaster, England, UK
Spent there 9 months, I shot the best photo I’ve taken of Lancaster when I spent there only a weekend for Halloween.
12. Alex, Lancaster, England, UK
Used my new lens for the fist time in Lancaster, and loved how it’s easy to play with the light with it! And I also had quite a model! Love this picture although I was a little tipsy after the Halloween party when I took it!
13. Marrakech, Morocco
The “ochre city” is just a continuos game of colors.
14. Jardin Majorelle, Marrakech, Morocco
…like the Jardin Majorelle, where everything is just yellow and blue!
15. Jardín Majorelle, Marrakech, Morocco
Would love to spend my days and nights sitting at the tables of that café, sipping mint tea and eating almond pastries.
16. COP22, Marrakech, Morocco
Another picture of myself which came out well!! And the story behind it is quite funny, because I hate the pictures when I was actually looking in the came, and love this one, taken while I was simply fixing my hair!!
17. Jardin Majorelle, Marrakech, Morocco
Yeah, ok, I swear this will be the last picture of myself, but 2016 has been a great year for portraits of me!!!
18. Marrakech, Morocco
I really learned a lot at the United Nations Convention on Climate Change in Marrakech in November.
19. COP22, Marrakech, Morocco
So far the best portrait I’ve ever shot in my life!
20. Rango, Trentino, Italy
You can feel all the magic of Christmas simply looking at this picture!!
OK, it’s one more picture of me, or at least a picture of a picture of me! This is the typical last but no the least, given that the photo pictured here is just special to me.
To an even better 2017!! Happy New Year everybody!
